Ode to John Cage Ape C H A O S Apple A Coastline of Empty Mirrors Waiting For Your Dance To Inhabit Them I like my name Griffin & have always been very proud to wear it guardian poet myth with wings equine actor myth the myth of being alive & finding a human way to do it with eagle keen perception the dream of fight & flight old souls with no fear of dying my father's family has been here for so many hundreds of years that I am at best a high strung mongrel for better or for worse American not United States of American but simply American whatever that may be & like dinosaurs at a tea party we won't be here that much longer America eats it's young : the game is on the global village upon the landscape like a hundred monkeys pounding out cheap cancer at a yard sale but there are the eyes & the eyes have it they are my Grandmother's eyes my father's eyes my son, my siblings & my cousin's eyes that criss-cross continents, oceans & purl time dressed in sheer nightgowns of shadow & light dancing before the laughing academies & the corporate firing squads hired by the coming dawn I just try not to rattle too hard sing along & never half step in the shadows or when walking thru the desert travel only at night the eternity of the hour & the infinity in the wild flower guilt a dream that never dies hell is happy in the summertime S.A.
