"In My Tired Shadow, Joey Hirsch has created an unrelentingly bleak portrait of an aging fighter who has nothing left to lose and little to gain. He's at the point of no return, and that makes him unpredictable, dangerous and deadly -- more so, even, than the shady characters and hardcore criminals with whom he surrounds himself. For Ritchie Abruzzi, there is no salvation. There is no redemption. Welcome to the story of a once talented boxer wonderfully captured in the free fall of his brutal descent into a hell of his own making." -James M. Brown, author of The Los Angeles Diaries
