The Names of the Pills

That photo where you’re wrinkling up your nose, smiling
With your own summer-dress memories and laughing
Out loud is where I imagine you now
Not gulping-down valium venlafaxine quetiapine
Sprawled at 1am thinking you want to die
Alone on the kitchen floor

Maybe you just liked the names of the pills
And the sound of the wrappers as you dropped
Out of life thinking that no one can rescue you from you
Desperate in the night radio static and green light
Fills your head as you see your life spread out
Before you green fields stretch out as you fly

You remember being five and looking through a plane window
Pull-down shutters airline food plastic knives and forks excite you
The hostess smiles and you realise your life is so long before you
And as she shakes you alive the ground comes up at you
Far too fast
