DANNY MILLS
Happiness I've become obsessed with words like, partner and gentle and easy-now. What happened there? When there's misery spilling over the sidewalks, And the army men staring into still-life, And faces of young children sagging. Now - I'll bounce over to them, Like a goofy old man. and say, "easy-now, partner…" And I'll say it gently, even though, They don't speak English, Or recognize big eyes spinning all over the place… But I know I said it well, And said it in one breath, spontaneously. And that's all that matters - When nobody wants to get dressed, On days like this. |
