UNDERGROUND VOICES: POETRY

LAWRENCE GLADEVIEW

Wine with the Devine

pint by pint
shot by shot
we laughed
slapped hands
and got well
pissed

conversation
carried the night
to last call, when i
bearishly barbed
"you just had to
decree mandatory
worship on
sundays"

swill-eyed
and rowdy
jesus slurred
"i never said
anything to
that effect."

In 1983, Lawrence Gladeview was born to two proud and semi-doting parents.
